Vote For Vegan School Lunch!
FARM sent out the following email alert-
Vote For Vegan School Lunch Before Jan. 14
Because of your overwhelming support, our proposal to have the USDA facilitate daily vegan school lunch options received 1432 votes on the Change.org website. This qualifies the proposal for the second round of voting to select the 10 most popular reforms for presentation to the Obama transition team.
This round of voting will run between January 5-14. On January 16th, Change.org will co-host an event at the National Press Club in Washington, DC to announce the top 10 rated ideas and the formation of a national advocacy campaign behind each idea.
Here is the simple procedure for exposing the concept of a vegan diet to hundreds of thousands of social reform activists and perhaps to the new administration:

- Sign up on the Change.org website, if you're not a member or sign in, if you are
- Visit our vegan school lunch proposal, and click on the number to cast your vote.

Congratulations December Challenge Winners!
We had a tie for the December team challenge! Congratulations to Caroline of Toboggan Hill Studio and Roni of Daisy Wares and Daisy's Destash!! The challenge was "Down On The Farm" and all entries had to be farm animal themed with a story about why that animal was chosen.
Caroline's submission was Jewely's necklace which she made in memory of Angel Pig. You can read the story behind the necklace here on her blog.

Roni's submission was here "I'm a Pig! Not Pork!" design from her Cafe Press shop. Says Roni about her design, "I read on a wall once, I'm a Pig, not Pork and loved it! It says so much. So came up with an idea of a pig with attitude and this is what I got!".

Five Active Treasuries!
Recipe Contest!
Tami of Tami's Soapworks is having a recipe contest on the blog Vegan Appetite where you can win the Cooking With Compassion cookzine! How cool is that? I copied and pasted what she wrote about it below and you can also find the info here.
Some of you may already know this, but if you haven’t heard we’re trying to keep Hezbollah Tofu up and running while Equus takes a mini break. To do that, I’m asking for your help!
If you’ve enjoyed the Hezbollah Tofu blog and thought about doing a recipe but didn’t get around to it, please do it now! We desperately need recipes to post and to keep this awesome collective project going.
To entice you just a little more (and hopefully motivate you), how about a Recipe Drive? If you submit a recipe between now and the end of January, you’ll be randomly entered in a drawing to win a free cookbook put out by the VeganEtsy Team.
All you need to do is veganize a recipe originally written by Anthony Bourdain (some are available online, or get the book from your library) and send it to us.
To keep going, Hezbollah Tofu needs you. Please send your recipes to us at heztofu@yahoo.com
